“Speak, Lord. Your servant is listening.” – 1 Samuel 3:9
In our busy lives, it can be challenging to find moments of stillness. Yet, God desires to communicate with us in those quiet times. Samuel’s response to God is a beautiful reminder of the posture of our hearts as we seek to hear from Him: open and attentive. When we approach God with a listening heart, we open ourselves to His guidance, direction, and wisdom.
This passage encourages us to cultivate a practice of listening for God’s voice amidst the noise of our daily routines. It invites us to invite God into our lives more deeply, seeking His will and understanding in every situation. As we embrace the position of a servant, we acknowledge His authority and desire to guide our steps.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for always being near and ready to communicate with us. We come before You with humbled hearts, ready to listen. Help us to quiet the distractions in our lives and create space for Your voice. May we, like Samuel, respond with eagerness and faith, trusting that You have a purpose and plan for us. Open our eyes and ears to see and hear You clearly in our everyday life. Lead us as we strive to follow Your ways.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
