As a ransom for the whole world

God of heaven, today the Christian world commemorates the death of Your only Son, Jesus, who gave His life as a ransom for the whole world. May we always remember that in order to follow Christ, we should first be ready to suffer from persecution and ridicule from the enemies of the cross. May we not take for granted the salvation that You have given to us freely because of the invaluable sacrifice of Your Son. I ask all these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.
