While more than 50 percent of the cast and crew of the hit series The Chosen do not identify as Christians, the transformative power of Scripture is actively moving behind the scenes. Actor Elijah Alexander, who portrays the high-level Roman spy and antagonist Atticus Aemilius Pulcher, experienced a profound spiritual awakening while filming. Over weeks of speaking and interacting with the text, the truth of the Gospel pierced his heart, altering his life forever.
Director Dallas Jenkins shared the powerful moment of transformation by revealing a text message he received from Alexander last year. The actor wrote, ‘Dallas, for the first time in my life, I fully believe and I am His now.’ He added, ‘And I have you to thank for making the introduction.’ Reflecting on the text, Jenkins choked up and stated, ‘Is there anything better to hear in the world than ‘thank you’ for making the introduction to Jesus?’
To solidify his new identity in Christ, Alexander chose to be baptized directly on production grounds in Texas. On November 15, 2025, he was immersed in the very lake that serves as the show’s ‘Sea of Galilee’ set. Jenkins celebrated the moment online, replying, ‘What a day that was… In our own ‘Sea of Galilee’ set.’ The event highlights that when the script ends, a sovereign God continues to capture the hearts of modern seekers.
