Erika Kirk was seen in tears being escorted out of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner after gunfire erupted Saturday night at the Washington Hilton. Video shared online showed her visibly shaken, repeatedly saying, “I just want to go home.”
The emotional moment drew attention because Erika’s husband, Charlie Kirk, was killed last September while speaking at Utah Valley University.
During the dinner, loud bangs were heard as the shooting unfolded. Donald Trump and other senior officials were quickly evacuated by the United States Secret Service. Authorities said one agent was wounded but in stable condition, and the suspect, a 31-year-old man from California, was taken into custody.
