Florida Congresswoman Charged Over FEMA Fund Theft Scheme

A Florida congresswoman is accused of stealing $5 million in federal disaster funds and using some of the money to aid in her 2021 campaign.

Democrat Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick has been charged with stealing FEMA overpayments that her family health care company received through a COVID-19 vaccination staffing contract.

Prosecutors allege that money was funneled to her campaign through straw donors, but Cherfilus-McCormick denies the allegations and says she has no plans to resign.
