Matthew 7 study đż

Throughout this chapter, Matthew tells of multiple important topics Jesus speaks of. The first being judging. Matthew 7:1 reads,’ âDo not judge, so that you wonât be judged. ‘ This verse tends to be thrown around often on social media without exploring the true meaning. We break this command when we:
– Think the worst of others
– Only speak to others of their faults
– Judge an entire life by only its worst moments
– Judge the hidden motives of others
– Judge others without considering ourselves in their same circumstances
– Judge others without being mindful that we ourselves will be judged
Verse 2 continues on, ‘For you will be judged by the same standard with which you judge others, and you will be measured by the same measure you use. ‘ This verse convicted me; would I want to be judged how I judge others? If you were convicted by that as well, we both have some prayer and reflection we need to do with the Lord. We should look at our own heart and sin before judging others. We are called to judge, but to judge fairly, not like the list explained above. ‘Why do you look at the splinter in your brotherâs eye but donât notice the beam of wood in your own eye? ‘ Matthew 7:3 We should be dealing with our own plank before dealing with anotherâs speck.
