Randall Wallace, the writer behind The Passion of the Christ, has opened up about how Mel Gibson’s upcoming two-part sequel, The Resurrection of the Christ, came to life. He says the project emerged from a Dallas dinner where they discussed how Protestants emphasize the Resurrection and an empty cross, and Gibson grew quiet as Wallace suggested, “We need to tell that story.” Calling the Resurrection “the Mount Everest of all stories,” Wallace said Gibson insisted their motives be spiritually pure, warned of spiritual attack, and promised a film that will show warfare in the unseen realm and be “disturbing, haunting, but unforgettable” as it explores what happened after Jesus rose.
