Governor Patrick Morrisey just signed the Riley Gaines Act into law, requiring sex-segregated spaces like restrooms, locker rooms, and domestic violence shelters to be reserved based on biological sex.
“Today, we sent a strong message that West Virginia stands with women,” Morrisey declared at the signing ceremony, where Riley Gaines herself was present.
The bill passed with overwhelming support (32-1 in Senate, 90-8 in House) and defines males and females based on reproductive biology rather than gender identity.
