“When the devil keeps asking you to look at your past, there’s something in your future he doesn’t want you to see.”
This profound statement reminds us that our focus should not be on our past mistakes or failures, but on the promises and possibilities that lie ahead. The enemy often seeks to distract us, reminding us of our shortcomings to keep us from realizing the glorious plans God has for us. By dwelling on our past, we hinder our ability to move forward, missing out on the blessings waiting just beyond our present circumstances.
Scripture reassures us that our future is in God’s hands and that His plans for us are good. As stated in Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV), “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Let this truth be a source of encouragement as we choose to shift our focus from what was to what will be.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the future that You have prepared for me. Help me to let go of the past and trust in Your plans. When I am reminded of my failures and shortcomings, fill my heart with Your peace and remind me of the hope that lies ahead. Strengthen my faith as I step into the future You have for me, knowing that You are with me every step of the way. I choose to focus on Your promises and to embrace the new beginnings You provide. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
