Pastor Albert Oliveira, a Brazilian-born minister, is preparing to self-deport after nearly 15 years in the U.S. serving his community in Gordon, Texas. Under his leadership, First Baptist Church went from struggling attendance to thriving growth, baptizing members monthly and starting missions in multiple countries.
Oliveira’s R-1 religious visa expires this November, and his permanent residency application remains stuck in the backlog. Facing uncertainty, he plans to depart peacefully and continue leading his congregation virtually from abroad. “We trust that God’s plan is never limited by borders,” Oliveira said.
