Pilot’s Worship and a Timely Escape in Palu

“Indonesian pilot Ricoseta Mafella is known for quietly humming worship songs while flying. But on September 28, 2018, his routine took a remarkable turn. As he sat in the captain’s seat, he felt a strong prompting to simply praise and worship God—so he began singing aloud.

Earlier, Mafella had delayed a landing in Palu because of heavy winds, pushing the schedule back by nine minutes. Later, while boarding passengers for the next flight, he sensed a clear warning urging him to leave immediately. He obeyed, departing three minutes ahead of schedule.

Moments after takeoff, a massive earthquake struck the Donggala region, followed by a devastating tsunami that took thousands of lives. Mafella believes the timing was no coincidence, but a glimpse of God’s protection and plan.”
