The Christian community is mourning the passing of Joni Lamb, president and co-founder of Daystar Television Network, who died at age 65 after a serious private health struggle worsened by a recent back injury. Daystar confirmed that while Joni had been quietly facing significant health challenges, the injury led to unexpected medical complications in her final days.
For decades, Joni was a familiar face to millions, helping build one of the world’s most recognized Christian television ministries alongside her late husband, Marcus Lamb, who passed away in 2021. Together, they spent more than 30 years broadcasting the message of salvation, faith, and hope across nations.
Loss has marked much of Joni’s recent journey. After Marcus’ passing, she later remarried in 2023 to Doug Weiss, who joined her as co-host on Daystar. Through both public ministry and private grief, she remained deeply involved in leading the network and preparing its future.
In its official statement, Daystar shared that Joni had already worked with its board on a succession plan, ensuring the ministry would continue its mission: taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every nation. Even in her final season, her focus remained on what she believed mattered most, making Christ known.
Pastor and longtime friend Paula White-Cain honored Joni online, calling her “a General for the Kingdom, a pioneer, a worldwide evangelist,” adding, “You finished your course.”
Joni is survived by her husband Doug, her children Jonathan, Rachel, and Rebecca, and their families.
Moments like this remind us how quickly life moves. Platforms fade. Applause quiets. Schedules clear. But what remains is the legacy of a life poured out in service to what one believes God has called them to do.
As Scripture reminds us: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7)
Please keep the Lamb family in your prayers as they grieve and have requested privacy in the days ahead. Sometimes the most powerful ministry is simply this: to pray for those carrying sorrow.
