Street Preacher’s Charter Launched in Parliament

In response to a series of wrongful arrests and fines against open-air preachers, The Christian Institute has unveiled a “Street Preacher’s Charter” at the UK Parliament. The charter outlines key laws protecting free speech, reminds police and councils that street preaching has been part of British life for centuries, and encourages preachers to be accountable to local churches, respect authorities, avoid shouting at individuals, and speak about contentious issues like gender and sexuality with care while still boldly commending Christ. It was inspired in part by Scottish preacher Angus Cameron’s successful legal case after Police Scotland arrested him without grounds and later paid damages for breaching his rights.
