An 18-year-old Indonesian teenager, Aldi Novel Adilang, survived an unimaginable 49 days stranded alone at sea—an ordeal he says was sustained by his faith and daily prayer.
Aldi was working on a floating fishing platform when strong currents carried him far from shore. With minimal supplies and no way to navigate, he drifted more than 1,200 miles across the Pacific Ocean. During the weeks at sea, he survived by catching fish, collecting rainwater, and reading his Bible.
“I thought I was going to die,” Aldi later said. “But I remembered to pray.” He shared that turning to Scripture and calling on God gave him strength when hope seemed gone.
After nearly seven weeks adrift, Aldi was finally rescued near Guam. Reflecting on his survival, he testified, “Without God, I wouldn’t be here.”
His story has since inspired many around the world as a powerful reminder of faith, perseverance, and God’s presence even in the most desperate circumstances.
