Akiane’s Prince of Peace: Vision, Loss, and Return

At just eight years old, Akiane Kramarik did the impossible. Growing up in a home where the name of Jesus was never even mentioned, the self-taught prodigy began experiencing vivid spiritual visions. These divine encounters led her to create ‘Prince of Peace’, a portrait she says captures the exact face of Christ as she saw Him during her visits to heaven.

‘I prayed, ‘If you want me to paint this, bring Him to me,’’ Akiane recalls. The answer came when a mysterious carpenter knocked on her door, serving as the physical model she needed to finish the work. Completed in 40 hours, the painting—nearly twice her size—became a global sensation, offering a window into the unconditional love she felt in the presence of God.

However, the masterpiece’s journey was a trial of faith. It was stolen by an agent, hidden in a dark crawlspace for nearly 20 years, and even damaged by sawdust—a symbolic reminder of the crucifixion. Yet, like a true story of resurrection, the painting was miraculously recovered and sold to a collector for $850,000, eventually finding its home at the Belóved Gallery.

Now 29, Akiane continues to follow her calling, waking at 4 AM daily to create art that transcends religion. ‘I don’t belong to any religions, I really belong to God,’ she says. For millions, her work remains a powerful testimony that when we seek His face, He is always there, waiting to be found.
