Alice Cooper: Shock Rocker Turned Faithful

Rock legend Alice Cooper, the “Godfather of Shock Rock,” starts his day at 5 a.m. with coffee, prayer, and Bible reading. This routine, he says, sets a “positive frame of mind” for everything else.

A Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Cooper is on his 12th complete reading of the Bible. He credits his faith in Jesus Christ for transforming his life after years of addiction.

“I’m a healed alcoholic,” Cooper declares, explaining that God didn’t just help him quit drinking—He removed the desire entirely. Sober for nearly 40 years, he calls this a supernatural miracle.

Cooper warns about spiritual warfare, noting the devil isn’t a cartoonish figure with horns. Instead, “he’s the smoothest-talking guy in the room with a different set of plans for you.”

Despite his macabre stage persona, Cooper separates his career from his personal faith. His pastor advised keeping the name Alice Cooper but changing his heart, proving no one is beyond God’s grace.

Today, he balances horror-themed performances with a devoted prayer life. Cooper emphasizes that materialism leaves a “God-sized hole” in the heart, but a one-on-one relationship with Jesus fills it completely.

In recent interviews, Cooper reaffirms Jesus as “the core of everything. He’s life itself. He’s the light.” He teaches weekly Bible classes and supports youth centers, knowing “heaven and hell are real.”

Cooper’s testimony highlights that faith can redeem even rock stars. He prays before shows, avoids blasphemy, and urges others to seek Christ amid worldly temptations.
