Ben Schettler was assaulted Wednesday evening while conducting public ministry outreach in Washington Square Park in New York City.
The Center for Truth in Love said Schettler was struck multiple times, including blows to the head, during a confrontation in the park. His phone was also stolen during the incident. Emergency responders transported him to the hospital for evaluation before later releasing him to return home.
The ministry stated that Schettler had spent the week participating in the Rededicate America: One Nation Under God event in Washington, D.C., along with evangelism efforts in New York City. Law enforcement reportedly recovered his phone and continues investigating the assault.
