Christian singer Tim Timmons was just 25 years old when doctors diagnosed him with stage 4 incurable cancer and told him he likely had only five years to live. That devastating news came in 2001. More than two decades later, Tim is still here, still singing, and still pointing people to Jesus.
That is what makes his song Cast My Cares so powerful. The lyrics were not written from a place of comfort, but from the reality of facing death and learning to trust God anyway. Rather than letting fear define him, Tim chose to surrender his worries, his future, and even his diagnosis to Christ.
Tim has said cancer is not his story. Jesus is. Through surgeries, uncertainty, and years of living beyond his prognosis, he has continued to remind others that peace is not found in having all the answers, but in knowing the One who holds tomorrow.
Personally, I’m excited for this one. I already have tickets to see him perform live later this year on his tour with MercyMe.
1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” For Tim Timmons, those words became more than a verse. They became a way of life.
