On March 3, 2026, a total lunar eclipse turned the moon deep red—a blood moon. On the Hebrew calendar, that date was Purim—the Jewish feast recorded in the book of Esther, commemorating the day a Persian decree to annihilate the Jewish people was overturned and their enemy was destroyed instead.
This year, the feast itself was marked by a rare celestial event while Persia once again stands in direct opposition to Israel.
Scripture establishes a recurring pattern:
-Pharaoh ordered Hebrew sons drowned—and was drowned in the sea.
-Daniel’s accusers were thrown into the lions’ den they prepared.
-Haman was lifted onto the stake he built.
The biblical theme is consistent: the one who seeks the destruction of God’s covenant people ultimately faces destruction himself.
Scripture describes the lights in the heavens as being for signs and seasons (Genesis 1:14), and passages in Joel and Revelation associate the moon turning to blood with significant, world-shaking periods (Joel 2:31; Revelation 6:12).
Purim remembers reversal, and this year, the moon turned red over it. The destruction the Persian (Iranian) regime sought for Israel (and America) has been turned back on themselves. Now is their opportunity for repentance.
