95 Days Adrift: Fisherman Says He Saw Jesus at Rescue

A Peruvian fisherman named Máximo “Gatón” Napa Castro survived an incredible 95 days lost at sea after his boat engine failed, leaving him drifting in the Pacific with no communication. He endured extreme conditions—surviving on rainwater, insects, birds, and even turtle—before being rescued by an Ecuadorian fishing vessel in March 2025, severely dehydrated but alive.

The day before his rescue, he said he had reached a breaking point and told God he believed help was coming, even though there was no sign of it yet.

In what he describes as his final push to survive, he used the last of his strength to catch a turtle, drink its blood, and stay alive just a little longer. About an hour later, a helicopter and an Ecuadorian fishing vessel arrived after spotting his boat drifting in open water.

That’s when he says something supernatural happened.

As rescuers approached, Napa said he looked at the co-pilot—and saw the face of Jesus next to him. He described it as clear and undeniable in that moment, causing him to cry out in shock and relief, believing God had answered him just in time.

After his rescue, Napa publicly credited his survival to his faith, saying he prayed constantly and believed God sustained him through the ordeal.
