One of the greatest honors of my life was leading the dedication of President Donald J. Trump’s statue to the world.
Standing 22 feet tall at Trump National Doral, this gold-leaf bronze monument has sparked intense debate. However, Pastor Mark Burns is setting the record straight on the biblical distinction between honor and idolatry. Amid accusations of ‘Golden Calf’ worship, Burns reminds us: ‘Honor is not worship. Respect is not idolatry. Celebration is not bowing down to a false god.’
The statue, funded by over 6,000 patriots and crypto investors for $300,000, depicts Trump with a raised fist—a symbol of resilience following the 2024 assassination attempt. Burns emphasizes that while we honor leadership and courage, our spiritual devotion remains singular. ‘Let me be very clear. We worship the Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone,’ Burns stated.
In a world quick to judge, the Word teaches us to give honor where honor is due. This monument isn’t a substitute for God, but a testament to the grit and patriotism of millions. Let us continue to pray for our nation and keep our eyes fixed on the only One worthy of our ultimate worship.
