Denzel Washington says he isn’t interested in Oscars, saying, “Man gives the award. God gives the reward.” That kind of statement raises an important theological point: salvation is not earned by works, but the Bible does teach that believers can receive rewards in heaven for faithfulness and obedience. Scripture says, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth… But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven…” Matthew 6:19-20 (NIV).
