Scott Adams, the American author and cartoonist behind Dilbert, has announced plans to convert to Christianity during his battle with terminal stage 4 prostate cancer.
The 68-year-old revealed the decision during a recent livestream, reflecting on years of conversations with Christian friends who urged him to embrace the faith. Adams, long a non-believer, said he respects those who actively try to convert others: “How would I believe you believe your own religion if you’re not trying to convert me?”
He described the choice as a straightforward risk-reward calculation. “If it turns out there’s nothing there, I’ve lost nothing,” Adams said. “If there is something there and the Christian model is the closest to it — I win.”
Any remaining doubts, he added, would vanish in an afterlife: “Any skepticism I have about reality would be instantly answered if I wake up in heaven.”
Addressing his Christian supporters directly: “You don’t need to talk me into it. Yes, it’s coming.”
Adams first disclosed his metastatic prostate cancer diagnosis in May 2025, noting it had spread to his bones with near-zero recovery odds. Recent updates describe paralysis below the waist, heart issues, and a grim prognosis.
