First Look: Mel Gibson’s “Resurrection of the Christ” Reveals New Jesus

Mel Gibson has finally unveiled the first look at his long-awaited biblical film project, The Resurrection of the Christ. The film is the official sequel to The Passion of the Christ (2004), the movie that sparked worldwide controversy while also becoming one of the most successful faith-based films ever released.

The most noticeable change revealed so far is the recasting of Jesus. Instead of Jim Caviezel, who portrayed Jesus in the original film, Finnish actor Jaakko Ohtonen will take on the role in the sequel. In the newly released still image, he appears with long hair and white garments, presenting a traditional depiction of the Messiah.
