From Roman Spy to Redeemed: A Chosen Actor’s Baptism Story

What happens when playing an enemy of Jesus leads you straight into His arms?

On the hit series ‘The Chosen’, actor Elijah Alexander portrays Atticus Aemilius Pulcher—a top-level Roman spy whose mission is to track Jesus. More than 50 percent of the show’s cast and crew are not Christians, but God’s Word moves powerfully behind the scenes. Through the process of filming, the truth of the Gospel pierced Elijah’s heart.

Director Dallas Jenkins revealed a text message he received from the actor last year: ‘Dallas, for the first time in my life, I fully believe and I am His now.’ The director choked up reflecting on the moment, saying, ‘Is there anything better to hear in the world than ‘thank you’ for making the introduction to Jesus?’

To solidify his new faith, Elijah chose to be baptized directly on production grounds. He was immersed in the Texas-based lake that serves as the show’s ‘Sea of Galilee’ set. When the script ends, real transformation begins—proving that the living Word of God still captures the hearts of seekers today.
