Leandro de Souza became nationally known as the “most tattooed man in Brazil,” with ink covering nearly 95% of his body. Behind the striking appearance, however, was a life marked by addiction, a painful divorce, and periods of homelessness, including nights spent in shelters.
At the lowest point of his crisis, de Souza says everything changed when he encountered the Christian faith. He describes that moment as the exact point when he was “reborn on the inside,” a spiritual turning point that reshaped how he viewed his past and his future.
That inner transformation led to a radical outward decision. De Souza chose to begin removing almost all of his tattoos—including those on his face—through an extensive laser process. The journey is long and physically painful, but deeply symbolic. Each session, he says, represents more than physical suffering; it is a farewell to his former life.
“Every tattoo erased is a piece of my old life left behind,” de Souza shared. For him, the removal is about aligning his outward appearance with the change he believes Christ has brought within.
His story has resonated widely online, serving as a testimony of redemption, renewal, and the belief that no past is beyond transformation through faith.
