⚾️ During the San Francisco Giants’ Pride Night, pitcher Landen Roupp made headlines by writing Genesis 9:12-16 on his cap—the passage where God declares the rainbow as the sign of His covenant with the earth after the flood. When asked about it, Roupp explained that the rainbow represents God’s covenant and that his decision was rooted in his Christian faith, not hatred toward anyone. Despite controversy and criticism, Roupp stood firm, saying, “There’s no hate at all. It’s just what I stand for and what I stand in. I believe in God.”
Other Giants pitchers, including J.T. Brubaker and Ryan Walker, also reportedly wrote Bible verse references on their hats, while pitcher Sam Hentges chose not to wear the Pride-themed cap, saying he did not morally support the event but that his decision was not motivated by hatred toward LGBTQ individuals.
Genesis 9:13 — “I have set my rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.”
