San Francisco Giants pitcher Landen Roupp drew attention during Pride Night by writing Genesis 9:12–16 on his cap, a Bible passage describing God’s covenant with Noah and the rainbow as a sign of His promise.
Roupp said the message was meant to point people to “God’s covenant and the promise that He makes to us.” He emphasized that the rainbow is a biblical symbol and that his decision reflected his Christian faith.
The gesture sparked mixed reactions online, with some criticizing it and many Christians praising Roupp for publicly sharing Scripture. Responding to the backlash, he said, “There’s no hate at all. It’s just what I stand for. I believe in God.”
