Henderson’s Cleats Speak Up for Persecuted Christians

Patriots’ TreVeyon Henderson Wears ‘Pray For Persecuted Christians’ Cleats.
New England Patriots rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson made a bold spiritual statement on the NFL field by wearing custom cleats that read “Pray For Persecuted Christians” during last month’s game as part of the My Cause My Cleats initiative.

Partnering with Global Christian Relief, the special cleats featured raised crosses, praying hands, a world map, and the Bible verse Matthew 5:10 — “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Henderson explained that he wanted to use his platform to spotlight the suffering of believers around the world who face violence, imprisonment, and even death for their faith. He told supporters that “their faithfulness emboldens me to be bold here in the U.S.”

His act has drawn attention across sports and faith communities, highlighting the cost of discipleship and the power of standing with brothers and sisters in Christ. The message was shared widely on social media, where Henderson also posts Scripture and testimony about his own faith journey.
