In God We Trust Act Targets Federal Buildings

Mary Miller has introduced the “In God We Trust Act,” a bill that would require every federal building in America to prominently display the nation’s official motto: “In God We Trust.”

Miller said the phrase has served as a declaration of faith and national identity for decades, adding, “We will never apologize for being one nation that places its trust in Almighty God.”

The motto first appeared on U.S. coins during the Civil War and was officially adopted as the national motto in 1956 under President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

The House bill mirrors similar legislation introduced by Josh Hawley, who has spoken publicly about what he describes as America’s growing spiritual crisis.
