When pop star Justin Bieber abruptly halted his concert, it wasn’t for a wardrobe change. Overwhelmed by emotion, he stripped away the glamor to speak directly to the crowd about his own brokenness and the limits of traditional religion.
‘I’m tired of religion. I’m tired of division,’ Bieber stated plainly. ‘I just want to know what it looks like to love people.’ Pointing away from his celebrity status, he shared that his personal pain became the exact environment where genuine hope was birthed. ‘He just wants to use average, ordinary, broken people like us,’ Bieber emphasized. ‘No one’s got it together.’
Speaking with visible emotion, the artist pointed directly to Jesus Christ as the true anchor of his life. ‘We do got a hope, and his name is Jesus,’ Bieber boldly proclaimed to the stadium. ‘And he’s changed my life.’
