At Egypt’s Karnak Temple, archaeologists discovered an engraved list naming the cities Pharaoh Shoshenq conquered during his military campaign into the land of Judah. This ancient stone record matches the biblical account of King Rehoboam’s time, when Shishak (as he’s called in the Bible) invaded Judah and plundered Jerusalem.
The Bible describes how Shishak took the treasures of the Temple and the king’s palace as judgment for Judah’s idolatry and sin (1 Kings 14:22-27). The Karnak inscription vividly confirms this event by naming many of the same cities Shishak defeated—showing that this biblical story is grounded in real historical events.
This remarkable archaeological find offers undeniable evidence that the Bible’s history isn’t just legend, but actual recorded fact preserved in both Scripture and ancient Egyptian records.
