Grammy-winning artist Lecrae is speaking out after comedian Druski’s viral parody, “Mega Church Pastors LOVE Money,” racked up tens of millions of views. While the video uses satire to mock flashy clothes and aggressive fundraising, Lecrae warns that the laughter hides a sobering reality.
“There are wolves in the pulpits,” Lecrae stated bluntly. He noted that the parody isn’t just comedy; it’s a reflection of the performance-driven manipulation and “prosperity” theatrics that many believers have witnessed firsthand.
Lecrae argues that the Church shouldn’t be immune to critique. If the pulpit is sacred ground, he says, accountability must start from within. “He’s not inventing something—he’s reflecting what people have already seen,” Lecrae said, pointing to leaders who use God’s name for personal gain.
Despite the “outrage” online, Lecrae’s message is one of discernment, not deconstruction. He urges believers not to walk away from the faith, but to walk away from the performance. Instead of saying, “This is why I don’t go to church,” we should say, “I don’t want to go to a church like that.”
It’s a call for the Church to stop the show and get back to the heart of the Gospel. Let’s pray for leaders who lead with humility and for a generation to find the real Jesus amidst the noise.
