Missionary Doctor Contracted Ebola in DRC, Now Treated in Berlin

While treating vulnerable patients in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) outbreak zone, American medical missionary Dr. Peter Stafford contracted Ebola. He is currently undergoing treatment in a high-security isolation unit in Berlin, serving with the faith-based mission organization Serge. Hospital officials recently stated that he is ‘not critically ill,’ though doctors cautioned that Ebola patients can worsen suddenly and remain under close monitoring.

The medical crisis has deeply impacted his family, who had been living in the DRC alongside him. His wife and four children have all tested negative and reportedly remain symptom-free. Despite strict isolation protocols, the family is still able to see him through a glass partition and communicate using an intercom system, keeping their bonds strong through this trial.

As the suspected death toll rises to 139 in the region, the global Christian community is stepping up. Believers and mission groups around the world are asking for urgent prayer for his recovery, divine protection for his family, and supernatural strength for those continuing to serve on the front lines in Africa.
