American missionary doctor Dr. Peter Stafford has reportedly contracted Ebola while serving in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he had been treating patients during an outbreak in the region.
Stafford and his wife, Rebekah, have spent years serving as medical missionaries alongside their four children in one of the world’s most dangerous outbreak zones.
After testing positive for Ebola, Peter was evacuated for treatment as health officials worked to trace contacts and contain the spread of the virus.
When Franklin Graham learned about the situation, he publicly called on Christians around the world to pray for Peter and his family.
“I told her we would be praying for Peter and their family,” Graham shared.
According to reports, the Staffords remained in Congo after completing medical missions training through Samaritan’s Purse, choosing to continue serving in an area with extreme medical need.
