With more than 11,000 messengers gathered at the Southern Baptist Convention’s 2026 annual meeting, Dr. Albert Mohler made an impassioned plea for the adoption of his Truth and Unity Amendment, aimed at clarifying that the office of pastor is reserved for men according to Scripture.
Mohler warned that liberal denominations have drifted from biblical teachings and argued that the SBC must draw a clear line to preserve doctrinal integrity, unity, and faithfulness to God’s Word. He urged messengers not to alter the amendment’s wording, saying the moment presents a crucial opportunity for Southern Baptists to stand firmly on historic Baptist convictions. Will the SBC’s vote shape the future of biblical leadership for generations to come?
