Pastor Jonny Ardavanis is drawing attention after arguing that while women have immense value and influence in the church, the office of pastor or preacher should not be given in a way that violates what he believes Scripture teaches. He said a biblical church is not anti-woman, but must faithfully uphold God’s design for church leadership.
At the same time, Ardavanis stressed that churches must not only say what women cannot do, but must also clearly affirm what women can and should do. He pointed to the powerful influence of women in teaching other women, training children, counseling, serving, sharing Christ, meeting needs, and helping shape the next generation of believers.
For Ardavanis, different roles in the church do not mean different worth before God. His message reflects a traditional Christian conviction that women are essential to the life of the church, even while pastoral leadership remains defined by biblical order.
