Even in the darkest valleys, the global Church stands on the power of prayer.
On Saturday night at 8:30 p.m., a sacred night vigil turned into a test of ultimate faith. While Pastor Adebayo Abiodun of Ijo Ajaye Ati Igbala was ‘conducting a night vigil alongside members of his congregation at Ori-Oke Ijaye via Ekerin village’ in Kwara State, Nigeria, armed criminals breached the peace of the holy ground.
According to police spokesperson Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, ‘armed hoodlums invaded the prayer ground, firing sporadically, killing three persons while abducting fifteen others.’ These faithful believers were targeted simply for gathering in the name of Jesus to seek God’s face.
While authorities condemn this ‘barbaric, callous and unacceptable’ attack, our spiritual response remains anchored in Scripture. Let us lift up our brothers and sisters in Nigeria who risk their lives to pray. We cry out for the immediate comfort of the grieving families and the miraculous rescue of the 15 abducted saints.
