Recently during an interview LaBeouf stated, “I know now that God was using my ego to draw me to Him. Drawing me away from worldly desires”. He explained that his desire to save his career by taking the Padre Pio role was the initial impetus, but it led him to something deeper.
Scripture links pride to downfall. Proverbs 16:18: “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall”. It shows pride as self-exaltation, an independence from God, leading to arrogance, disgrace, and ruin, exemplified by Satan’s fall.
