Shreveport Mourns After Unthinkable Loss

Sunday morning in Shreveport was shattered by a tragedy that has left the entire nation in shock. Eight children, some as young as one year old, were taken from us in what authorities describe as a domestic disturbance spanning multiple homes.

Police Chief Wayne Smith stood before the community, visibly shaken. ‘I just don’t know what to say, my heart is just taken aback,’ he shared. ‘I cannot begin to imagine how such an event can occur.’ In times when human words fail and darkness seems to prevail, we are reminded of the frailty of life and our desperate need for a Savior.

Mayor Tom Arceneaux called it ‘the worst tragic situation we’ve ever had.’ As believers, we know that while ‘it’s a terrible morning’ for the city, our God is a refuge for the brokenhearted. We don’t just mourn; we intercede. Let’s lift up these families who have lost their little ones, asking for the ‘peace that surpasses all understanding’ to guard their hearts.

In a world filled with such pain, may we be the light that points back to the Cross. Please join us in prayer for Shreveport.
