“You are eaten up with cancer.” The words stunned Shirley. Doctors told her the disease had spread to her breast, bones, organs, and lymph nodes. It was stage IV—and untreatable. Shirley was given just 90 days to live.
As pain worsened and walking became difficult, fear tried to take hold. But Shirley and her husband, Mark, chose faith. “Whose report are we going to believe?” Mark told her, standing on Scripture and praying daily for healing.
One night, Shirley says she woke to see Jesus standing at the foot of her bed, filled with compassion and love. Soon after, a new oncologist told her something unexpected: “Pray for a miracle.” He then instructed her to begin intense sweat therapy. Shirley followed through with detox, saunas, exercise, and a strict diet, while friends and church members fasted and prayed.
Three weeks after her diagnosis, Shirley had a vivid dream of an out-of-control semi-truck stopping just short of her. She believes God spoke to her saying, “That’s the cancer I just stopped.”
Over the next two months, Shirley grew stronger. When she returned for her 90-day scan, doctors were stunned. The PET scan showed no evidence of cancer anywhere in her body.
“When stage IV cancer is gone, that’s a miracle,” her oncologist said. More than a decade later, Shirley remains cancer-free. She and Mark give all the credit to Jesus Christ. “What He did for me,” Shirley says, “He will do for others.”
