Team USA secured its first men’s Olympic hockey gold medal in 46 years at the 2026 Winter Games in Milan, with Jack Hughes scoring the overtime winner and Connor Hellebuyck making 41 saves.
Several players have spoken publicly about their faith. Defenseman Jaccob Slavin said, “If He’s not Lord of everything, He’s not Lord at all… My purpose… it’s all to glorify Him.”
Center Tage Thompson added, “When you take a step back and realize that God’s in control… you just kind of give it over to Him.”
The team also honored the late Johnny Gaudreau following the victory.
