Following in the footsteps of the Great Physician, Dr. Peter Stafford laid his own life on the line to serve the most vulnerable in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Now, this dedicated American medical missionary urgently needs the global Church to intercede.
While treating patients amidst a terrifying Ebola outbreak, Dr. Stafford contracted the deadly virus. He has since been safely evacuated to a hospital in Germany for specialized care. Through the Christian missions organization Serge, his colleagues—including his wife Dr. Rebekah Stafford and Dr. Patrick LaRochelle—bravely faced the same perilous environment. Both are currently asymptomatic and remaining under careful observation.
These faithful physicians did not run from danger; they walked directly into it, fueled by a profound love for Jesus and the Congolese people. Serge praised their team for serving with ‘extraordinary compassion and courage’ in the face of this crisis.
Let us boldly lift up the Stafford family, their four children, and the communities of the DRC. Pray for miraculous physical healing, absolute protection for the exposed staff, and God’s boundless mercy over this entire outbreak.
