Armageddon: The Nations vs Jesus

Every time conflict erupts in the Middle East, people start talking about Armageddon. The Bible only mentions Armageddon once:
“They gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew Armageddon.”-Revelation 16:16

Armageddon is the assembly point, not necessarily the place where all the fighting happens. Other passages give clues that the battle spreads far beyond that location. The prophet Zechariah says the nations will ultimately gather against Jerusalem:
“I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle.”-Zechariah 14:2

Revelation even describes blood flowing for roughly 1,600 stadia (about 180 miles), which is approximately the length of Israel from north to south (Revelation 14:20). The Bible paints a picture of a conflict that stretches across the land of Israel, not just a single battlefield at Megiddo—and possibly even into the surrounding regions.

But here’s the most important part people miss. The final battle isn’t ultimately between Israel and the nations.

It’s between the nations and Jesus.

Scripture says when the nations gather against Israel: “Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations.”-Zechariah 14:3

Jesus Himself returns and defeats them.
Not Israel.
Not the United States.
Jesus.

Which raises a serious question.
Why would anyone claiming to follow Christ willingly position themselves against Israel and alongside the world? The Bible actually warns that in the last days the nations will turn against Israel. In other words, the growing hatred toward the Jewish people isn’t surprising—it’s prophecy.

But that also means something very important. If you find yourself cheering against Israel and siding with the nations that want to destroy her…
biblically, you’re on the wrong team.

Because when the final battle comes, the nations opposing Israel will ultimately find themselves fighting against the Christ Himself.

Standing against Israel in that moment won’t just mean opposing a nation.
It will mean opposing Jesus.

Now, obviously, not every conflict in the Middle East is the final one. But history is moving toward the conditions Scripture describes, and the growing hatred of the Jews plays a major role in that. But when that day finally comes, the outcome will not be in doubt.

“Armageddon” isn’t a war the world wins against Israel—it’s the moment the world loses to Jesus. You better make absolutely sure you are not pitted against your Messiah on that day.
