Border Patrol Shooting in Portland During Federal Operation

Two people were shot and wounded by U.S. Border Patrol agents in Portland during a targeted federal operation. According to federal officials, the individuals were illegal alien gang members from Venezuela, allegedly connected to a prostitution ring and a prior shooting in Portland, and the stop was part of an active investigation.

Agents report that the driver attempted to run them over, using the vehicle as a weapon. The agents responded in self-defense. Scripture teaches that governing authorities exist to restrain evil (Romans 13). When criminals weaponize vehicles and threaten lives, lawful self-defense is not injustice—it is restraint.

This is what happens when lawlessness is excused, borders and laws are ignored, and evil is minimized. It has a high cost. And as a Christian, I HATE to see violence and death, and it saddens my heart. Not because I think it was wrong for the agents to take violent measures, but because they were pushed to that point by the ones who’ve chosen to do wrong and were trying to flee. When people choose wickedness, these are often the consequences to that rebellion—and I wish they wouldn’t choose it.
