Candace Cameron Bure said one of Hollywood’s most common messages — “follow your heart” — is not only bad advice, but unbiblical. Citing Jeremiah 17:9, she said, “We’re actually not to follow our heart, but to follow the wisdom that God gives us.”
Bure said that when the phrase appears in scripts, she asks filmmakers to change it because she does not want to point people toward something she believes is spiritually misleading. “I don’t ever want to lead someone in something that I know is deceitful, that is not biblically sound,” she said.
She added that as she has gained more creative control over her films, it has become increasingly important for her to include faith-centered meaning and to acknowledge that Christmas is ultimately about Jesus coming into the world as Savior.
