Faith-Fueled Confidence at the White House Podium

At 27, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt steps to the podium with confidence she says is rooted in faith.

In a one-on-one interview, Leavitt told CBN News that prayer is central to how she prepares for each press briefing. “I think that team prayer before is just a moment to be silent and still and ask God for confidence and the ability to articulate my words, knowledge, prayer, protection,” she said. “It’s the last thing I do before I go out there, and then it just gives me the confidence to do a briefing.”

Raised by blue-collar parents in New Hampshire, Leavitt said watching them work hard instilled determination in her from a young age. She also credits her Catholic education with shaping her discipline and worldview. “My faith is incredibly important to me, I would argue, now more than ever,” she said, noting the pressures and controversies that come with her high-profile role. “With faith, all things are possible.”

A former high school softball standout who earned a college scholarship, Leavitt believes athletics helped prepare her for politics. “The game of softball in sports prepared me for the game of politics, no doubt about it,” she said, describing each briefing as “a new game.”

After losing a congressional race in 2022, she said the setback reinforced her trust in God’s plan. “God has a plan for everyone… God knew what He was doing,” she said. “You just have to trust the process and trust that he’s working in your life.”

Leavitt has also spoken openly about what she sees as a broader spiritual dimension to political events. “I certainly believe in spiritual warfare,” she said, adding that she believes President Trump “was saved by the grace of God” during the July 13 incident in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Balancing her demanding job with motherhood to her eight-month-old son, Leavitt said the challenge is real but worth it. “I hope people just view me as a hard worker who wants to get the job done and a good mother,” she said.
