Franklin Graham criticized protesters who disrupted a Sunday church service in Minnesota, saying their actions should not be surprising but were deeply troubling. He said the protesters invaded the worship service, attempted to intimidate the congregation, and shouted curses and accusations at youth, children, and families who had gathered peacefully to worship. Graham described it as ironic that the protesters claimed to defend rights while trampling on the rights of Christians to worship freely.
Graham said the Minnesota-Wisconsin Baptist Convention was right to describe the incident as “an unacceptable trauma” and expressed support for the U.S. Department of Justice’s civil rights investigation. He said he hopes those responsible for the intimidation will be brought to justice and that the case will send a strong message about protecting religious liberty in America. Graham urged people to pray for the affected pastors and congregation, for churches across the country to stand strong, and for law enforcement officers enforcing the nation’s laws to receive God’s protection, courage, and strength.
