Franklin Graham responded to questions about President Trump’s recent posts, saying he does not believe Trump would knowingly depict himself as Jesus Christ and calling such an idea inappropriate. He said Trump made clear he believed the AI-generated image represented a doctor helping someone and removed the post once he learned people were concerned.
Graham said he did not interpret the illustration the same way many critics did, noting that he saw no halo, crosses or angels in the image. Instead, he described it as containing symbols such as a flag, soldiers, a nurse, fighter planes, eagles and the Statue of Liberty, and argued that some opponents were trying to turn it into something it was not.
He also addressed another image Trump reposted that Graham said did appear to show Jesus guiding him. Graham said everyone needs that kind of guidance and again argued that critics were trying to distort the meaning. He added that while he is not Catholic, he appreciates Trump’s defense of religious freedom and called him the most pro-Christian, pro-life president of his lifetime.
