Franklin Graham strongly criticized Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico after Talarico said his abortion-rights position comes “because of my faith” and claimed, “The Bible is silent on abortion.”
Talarico argued that abortion decisions should not belong to “government,” “politicians,” or “the state,” saying he trusts Texas women to make those decisions with family, doctors, and faith leaders.
Graham rejected that view, writing, “The Bible is not silent on abortion as he claims — that’s an absolute lie.” He pointed to Exodus 20:13, saying, “God commands us, ‘You shall not murder.’ Abortion is taking a life.”
Other Christian voices also pushed back, arguing that Scripture teaches the value of unborn life and that Christian teaching cannot be separated from the belief that all people are made in the image of God.
